Midtown Assistance Center

As Thanksgiving season rolls around, I always take a moment to reflect on how lucky we are to live in a city as full of heart as Atlanta. Our neighborhoods don’t just shine because of their homes, parks, or restaurants — they shine because of the people who care deeply about one another. This week, I want to highlight one of those organizations that embodies that spirit of care: the Midtown Assistance Center.

The Midtown Assistance Center (MAC) is all about helping working families in Atlanta who suddenly find themselves facing financial hardship. Whether it’s a missed paycheck, a medical bill, or an unexpected expense, MAC steps in to provide temporary assistance with rent, utilities, transportation, or food. It’s the kind of support that keeps families stable and prevents a short-term setback from turning into a long-term crisis.

As a realtor, I spend my days helping people find homes — and that’s why MAC’s mission hits home for me. A stable home is more than just a roof over your head. It’s the foundation for everything else: your health, your security, your ability to plan for the future. When a family is able to stay in their home through tough times, it keeps our communities stronger and more connected.

What I love most about MAC is how hands-on their impact is. They meet with families face-to-face, get to know their stories, and tailor their help to what each household truly needs. It’s community in action — one neighbor helping another, with empathy and dignity at the forefront.

This season, if you’re looking for a way to give back, consider volunteering with MAC or making a small donation. Even a few hours of your time can help someone avoid eviction or keep the lights on during a tough month. And if you have a group of coworkers, friends, or family who want to give back together, MAC offers great opportunities for volunteer days and drives.

I’m so grateful to live in a city where giving back is part of who we are. Organizations like the Midtown Assistance Center remind us that kindness and compassion are the true cornerstones of community.
